Teodoro Duclere (1815-1869)


His family of French origin Teodoro Duclere was born in Naples about the time of the fall of Luigi Bonaparte. Duclere studied with Anton Sminck van Pitloo as part of the school of Posilipo and he eventually married his teacher's daughter. In 1861 he was Professor of Landscape at the Institute of Fine Arts in Naples. He enjoyed immense notoriety and collectors included the Tsar of Russia.
